Back!
Hi, I am back from the dead.
The semester kicked my butt all over town and I’ve been missing out on everything. I have not been able to attend church because the entirety of my weekends have been devoted to homework. Â I have missed out on almost every single family dinner since January. Â I have even stopped inviting people over because I cannot spare the time to socialize. Â I even failed to celebrate my wonderful sister’s birthday. Â Naturally, in the face of all these things, I have not been blogging.
As far as what I have managed to do this semester: I taught two 25-student classes on Freshman Composition; I read almost all of Melville’s works; I read lots and lots of obscure Renaissance literature; I read hundreds of pages of dense literary theory; I wrote 7 papers for a total of 65 pages of polished, researched, academic, literary analysis; I prepared and gave 3 presentations; I participated in two on-going discussion boards; I attended 60 hours of class; I still managed to keep my family fed and in clean clothes; I also kept my house (mostly) clean despite a remodel project in the middle of the semester; celebrated my husband and I’s fifth wedding anniversary and his 28th birthday; and finally, I am still sane and my family still loves me.
I still have about 40 student portfolios to grade (hoping to be done by Friday evening) and I am awaiting my own grades with fingers crossed.
More to come…
