A Pile of Books
Brent is one of my best friends. I have known him for about eight years now. We met at church because I was friends with a friend of his girlfriend. Or something like that. Years of intense book and religion centered conversations have cemented our affinity for one another (the insanely intelligent humor helps too). When Jared and I got married Brent did something I’ll always love him for. He made a focused effort to become friends with my husband too. This meant that all three of us could hang out. Then he went and married one of the few really intelligent, agreeable, and funny women around and that has just made things even better. She hangs out with me often, we laugh and talk and Alex and Luc think that “Me-Me” is their best friend. The four of us get along very well and their two dogs are good with our two kids. It’s perfect really. And on top of all this, you know what else he does? Let’s me borrow books. I came home from Brent and Aimee’s last Friday with this pile.

Brent has been reading lots of contemporary fiction lately though he, like me, is most decidedly into classic literature. His ventures have turned up some worthwhile books though and I’ve been using his recommendations to enjoy some easier reading before the school year starts. I finished two of the books in this pile; think I can get them all done by next Wednesday?
