Little Boy Lost
I read our second book club book early because I’ll likely be sharing my copy around. Since I know several people who will be reading also read this blog, I can’t share too much about it. But…it is a marvelous book. It is rich with insight and moving in its detail. I cried. I don’t usually cry. In fact I don’t think I’ve cried over a book for ten years or more but I cried. Definitely worth a visit to Persephone.
We are off on our road trip tomorrow at 3:30am. Insane but better than leaving later and having the boys be awake for the entire 12 hour journey. I anticipate that they will be restless and I will be impatient but have plans to mitigate both those problems. I am taking books to read to them (and hauling 7 along for myself), stuffed animals for them to cuddle with and plenty of snacks to distract them. Fingers are officially crossed. I’ll let you know how it goes.
The books I am taking along are, That Hideous Strength by CS Lewis, Travels With a Donkey by RL Stevenson, The Mind of the Maker by Dorothy Sayers, The Last Gentleman by Walker Percy, Deep Comedy by Peter Leithart, The Western Canon by Harold Bloom and Poems of Sleep and Dreams. I hope I don’t run out of reading material…

Did you know Wesley had bookshelves build into his carriage? Make sure you take along some NyQuil. In case the little ones won't sleep… because of a cold… or something.

You are so lucky you can read in the car …without, you know, puking your guts out. Sigh.

The Last Gentleman is not that great. Just giving you a heads up.
I can't read in the car. I would puke too.

Whoa now, let's not take a crap on Walker Percy. I'll crap on Harry Potty all day, but Percy is the most recent author that I (can) respect. Lost in the Cosmos is hilarious.
*Brent is making sad eyes*
Oh well.
