Bybee,
I do highly recommend the book A Handful of Dust. It was as excellent as any of Waugh's work (and that is high praise) and it was very compelling. I couldn't put it down.

I've got Great Expectations on my list and am looking forward to it! David Copperfield was the turning point for me with Dickens.

I had a good day of reading, too. I'm in the last third of Great Expectations and feel like I can finally have some affinity for Dickens' writing.

I'm really curious about A Handful Of Dust.

Awesome page count love! You are rockin' it!!!
I'm sorry it had to be on a depressing subject though. I LOATHE reading stories like that. The overwhelming depravity gets to be to much for me.
Do I hear a children's story next???
