Day Two Hundred and Sixteen

Oliver Twist Page: 313

We had 11 people for over for lunch today. I love having a social life again. I’ve always enjoyed hosting parties and it’s been awhile for me (other than that wake a week ago). We just had burgers and watermelon because the homemade potato chips just wouldn’t turn out. If anyone knows how to make sure they come out crispy please let me know. I made the burgers a new way, ground beef mixed with sausage, Mrs Dash, minced onion and an egg. They tasted pretty good to me but not out of this world…might have to dress them up a bit more. One downside to hosting is that one rarely gets to sit down and enjoy things. This is further complicated by having little ones running around. Fortunately between Jared, Aimee, and Quinn I didn’t have too much trouble with that.

And speaking of little ones…this is how we spent our morning.

We were walking to church this morning and Alex stepped of the curb, stumbled and fell hard on his face. His front teeth went through his lip and we went to the Urgent Care center for stitches. I’m still a little queasy thinking about it. He screamed as we ran the three blocks home, all the way to the center, all through the exam and stitching and part of the way back home. They strapped him down and I had to hold his hands while they cleaned the wound and stitched it. I cried a lot too. I could cry again if I let myself. It’s so hard to see your baby bloody and screaming from pain. On a brighter note, here is the non-wounded son.

Oops, I guess he has a scratch…
