Day One Hundred and Seventy-One
The Aeneid by Virgil Page: 389
I should have finished Virgil today but John volunteered to close Veritas for us and I napped instead of reading. The nap was glorious other than a few strange dreams. We also had a little picnic in the park and Alex just ran himself ragged playing non-stop. We just put him to bed and it only took about 2 minutes for him to fall asleep (normal is more like 20-30). Some very nice people came over and looked at the Element and I think they might actually buy it. It was fun to chat with them and sometimes I forget how nuts we are, until I start telling somebody about our lives. Two kids under 2, two small businesses, house projects (new lawn & patio), and one big reading plan sounds pretty impressive I think. One thing that people don’t realize is that that list is everything we do. If you have one job and a weekend sport when you tell people what you do you don’t get to describe all other things that take up your day. Some of them are not very admirable like reruns of reality shows but other things like dinner with friends, helping your parents move, or babysitting the neighbor’s kids don’t go on the list when your describing your life. I think one of the hardest parts of this busy lifestyle (besides never seeing my husband) is not being able to do any of the extras.
