Day One Hundred and Twenty-One

Northanger Abbey Page: 241 Finished

Tale of Genji Page: 163

So a customer came in today and asked me “Do you know Herman Hesse?” and I said “Not personally.”

I have two main types of literate customers. Those who assume I have read and remembered every single book ever written and treat me like an idiot if I say I’m ‘not familiar’ with the book they’re looking for. And then there are those like the gentleman today who assume that because I’m female/young/feeding-a-baby/whatever-I’m-feeling-sensitive-about-that-day, I’ve never read anything but Harry Potter, the complete works of Janette Oke, and Eat Love Pray. Both types annoy me in their own way, but I think we’ve firmly established that I’m readily annoyable. Especially by those poor souls that have only ever read Harry Potter, the complete works of Janette Oke, and Eat Love Pray.

Northanger Abbey was delicious. I’m saving all my thoughts on it for the book club though. Genji is more of the the same…he sleeps with lots of women including the ones he raises as his daughters…blech.

Oops. I saved last night instead of published. If anyone besides Jared was up early and was wondering where this was…

  2. Megan Says:

    I wondered!

What time is the book club tonight? I have to work, but I might be able to go.

  3. Mandi Says:

7pm. Be there or be square.

  4. Quinn Says:

Question: If I want to be a triangle should I show up late?

  5. Mandi Says:

Yes and show up on time to be a circle…
