Day Forty-Eight
The Long Goodbye & Playback Chandler Page: 881
I’m tired…absolutely bone-weary because as previously mentioned, Jared and I decided that our lives were not busy and insane enough and started remodeling our loft. One half of this room has functioned as our TV room and the other has been Amanda’s bedroom and then Gabe’s bedroom and will be my library. Today was for filling, sanding and finishing the new hardwood floor and so that we could have time to do it Amanda and Gabe (for those of you who don’t know Amanda is Jared’s sister and Gabe is her boyfriend) are watching Veritas for us. Jared laid the last few pieces of hardwood around the doorways while I filled the knotholes. Then Jared sanded and sanded and sanded with the ridiculously heavy vibrating sander we rented. After he finished we vacuumed and wiped the floor down and he showered and headed to Veritas to relieve Amanda and Gabe. As soon as he was gone I called Kayla-la to request her assistance. She cheerfully came over and watched the boys while I put down the first coat of sealant. Now I’m blogging and hoping that when Jared gets home he’ll bathe the boys and then haul some of the tools that are cluttering my house outside. In order to properly understand the immense difficulty involved you must know that our couch is too big to come downstairs and out of the way. In fact in order to get it upstairs three years ago when we bought it we had to take several stairs off the bottom of the staircase. Thus going up or down requires great climbing agility and a surplus of strength. Some explanatory photos:
I hope everybody likes the picture posting frenzy I’ve gotten into. At my web wizard’s suggestion I started adding images to more of my blog posts and it’s kinda snow-balled on me. Hope it’s not to distracting from that which we know is most important…the written word.
And speaking of which back to our regularly scheduled reading. “I’ve got friends who could cut you down so small you’d need a stepladder to put your shoes on.” And tomorrow when I finish the last of the Chandler novels I’m starting Dante’s Divine Comedy…hopefully I’ll be able to put away my 217 pages a day but I think I’ll be falling behind. Wish me luck

That was the best quote. Ever.

Hey, I saw the Veritas rig over at Home Depot (on Milwaukee) today! But didn’t run into either of you in the store!
And yes, that quote IS great! except I would replace the word ‘friends’ — is it realistic to call a person who cuts you down that small a friend? As the saying goes “With friends like THAT, who needs enemies?!”

It’s entirely too quiet at the bookstore right now. Hope you are getting in some zzz’s in the midst of the madness. And I agree with the rest – that quote is fantastic, share some more, please!
